Triple HHonors points for stays at Hilton properties until 31 October 2014

The 2014 fall promotion from Hilton has just been published.

For stays between 1 August and 31 October 2014, you get triple points for week-end stays (Friday to Sunday) and double points during the week (Monday to Thursday).

What does this promotion mean? Usually you will get 10 HHonors points for each USD spent. Now, with this promotion you will get 20 points per dollar during the week and 30 points per dollar during the week-end. This is in addition to the other usual bonuses (5 points per dollar for the Points & Points earning option, or the 25% / 50% bonus for Hilton and Diamond members).

Free 10 000 HHonors points for stays at the New York Hilton Midtown

New York Hilton Midtown is a 4-star property located ideally for those visiting the Big Apple (10 minutes walk from Central Park or Times Square).

The offer is valid for stays in the newly renovated Executive rooms. You actually have to select the rate called "Hot deal bonus points", which has the same price as the regular flexible rate (see print-screen below):

50$ discount at Hilton hotels worldwide with their Best Rates Guarantee

Continuing our quest for tips and tricks to get Hilton discounts, here is another way to save 50$ from your Hilton booking.

The solution is to use the Hilton Best Rates Guarantee, which means that if you book directly through Hilton´s website and then, within 24 hours you find a cheaper rate elsewhere, Hilton will give you a 50$ discount, plus will adjust the room rate to the cheaper rate.

For example: the room costs 100$ on Hilton´s website, you find it at 80$ on another website (e.g. Expedia), then the final cost for your room will be 30$ (being the 80$ for the room minus the 50$ additional discount / rebate).

It might not always work, as sometimes there are no cheaper rates elsewhere, but it is worth trying.

General conditions:

-  an online claim form must be submitted within 24 hours from the reservation made on Hilton´s website;

- the cheaper price found elsewhere must be for the same room with the same reservation conditions (the same room type, at the same hotel, with the same dates and length of stay, same number of guests, same designation as either cancellable or non-cancellable, same advance purchase policies, and the same terms and conditions governing the room rate).

Our general tips:

- always book a Hilton flexible  / refundable rate, so that you can cancel the reservation in case the claim is not confirmed by Hilton;

How the Hilton Best Rates Guarantee works, in five simple steps:

Step 1

Look for your preferred hotel to see the room rates on Hilton´s official website - see link below:

Do not make the reservation yet, just write down the preferred room and rate.

Step 2

Search the same room at the same hotel on online travel agencies (e.g. Expedia, Travelocity, etc.). You can see the comprehensive list of travel agencies we use following the link below:

Note the web address of the travel agency and the amount of cheaper rate found - the "Comparison rate" (also make a print-screen showing the cheaper rate). Do NOT make any reservation on that website, as the final purpose is to make a discounted reservation through the Hilton official website.

Step 3

Make a reservation through Hilton´s official website - see link below:

Note down the reservation number, as you will need it to file the claim form (in step 4).

Step 4

Within 24 hours from the Hilton reservation, submit the online claim to Hilton to ask for the Best Rate Guarantee, since you found the cheaper rate elsewhere (at step 2). Use this link from the official website to make the claim:

In the "Comments" section of the claim form, if finding the "Comparison rate" on the other website is not straightforward, provide some details on how you found that rate, so that the Hilton representative can find the same rate.

For example, on some websites, not all the rooms and rates are shown, but you need to click on a button "Show all rates". Indicate in the "Comments" section if this was the case.

Also, in the "Comments" section indicate whether the "Comparison rate" found elsewhere includes tax, breakfast, etc.

Step 5

A Hilton representative will contact you to inform you about the claim: whether it was approved, or if not, the reasons for dismissal. Here is where the print-screen (see step 2) might come in handy, in case of disagreement with the Hilton representative.


Additional information

- as expected, Hilton will have the final say on approval or not, so, apart from providing good arguments during an e-mail / phone discussion, there is not much left to be done on your side, except trying again :))

- for hotels outside the US, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, the 50$ discount is given in the form of a discount from the invoice at check-out;

- for hotels within the US, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico, a  $50 American Express Gift Cheque will be couriered to your address after check-out;

- opaque providers of hotel rooms, such as Priceline.com and Hotwire.com, that do not reveal the hotel brand name until after you have pre-paid your hotel room do not qualify for the guarantee.
